can any one suggest any links to lifting the fuel tank even moving back a little iv been looking at it and i can think of a couple of ways but just thought id ask

In a sierra?

You'll have to lift it atleast 100mm so that the filler neck clears the top of the chassis rail. This means chopping out your floor in the back.

As for moving it back.....not without a chassis extension. Its hard up against the rear crossmember.

Just buy or make a tank guard. Its far less work.

I run a 2" body lift with a 2" tank lift. The tank sits hard against the left chassis rail. There is plenty of room to fit a hose off the inlet.

Here's the link I have to agree with the tank guard its much easier and some have to get exhaust moved.

in my last sierra i had a 2 inch body lift and the tank was lifted like 200 or 300 ish mm they had just fliped the mounting brakets

Well unless the OP has a B/L, the point is moot.

If you were stuffing around with the tank mounts etc, you may aswell fit a larger tank from another vehicle. Atleast you will gain something for all your efforts.

Doesn't look like I actually took any photos of it in place... But to give you an idea, this is what was fitted in there :|
But yes, without a body lift this would not work. I didnt really have a choice, with the suspension in the rear i couldn't use the stock location.
