Hey auszookers

My names james (jimmy) currently own a 2005 prado that im selling for a brand new jimny sierra. Have been quoted $18,990 + $490 for metalic paint with steel wheels. Can i find a better price? This is at springwood suzuki. What would you get from facotry? Just after some advice.

not sure on the best price, ring around the stealerships & bounce them off each other till you screw them for the best price.

there is a member on here that had ARB air lockers, lift, tyres, front bar & a heap of other cool stuff fitted prior to delivery so anything is possible.

There are also a number of car broker companies online that will source the best deal for you, tell them exactly what your after and they give best possible price Australia wide and get it to you. I bought my 09 ve ss ute this way after shopping dealers off each other best dealer price with extras on road was $40500 I ended paying $34800 for exactly what I stipulated extras and all delivered on a transporter to my driveway!

That seems about as good as you will get for price, i got mine for $17,990 its a December 2011 build don't be excited over the new look jimny's either, i went and had a look and test drive and the only difference is, bonnet / grill are now separate, bonnet scoop and front bumper, internals and interior are the same.

wait till the last day or two of the month and screw em down then... they'll be trying to make their monthly targets and are more likely to be flexible (so i've been told).

also look at those dealers that offer a minimum fixed price trade in, i've heard of people buying a $500 shitter in the lead up to a purchase and securing their minimum $3k trade in =) lol

if u can afford to pay cash for the extras do them your self privately or you will have to pay stamp duty etc on them as well as the car as its calculated on the total price not the price of the car, also they will charge you more 9/10 times than what you could get your self, no to mention your loan repayments when i bought mine the difference in the loan was 2 years by purchasing just new tyres and wheels through them

This is super interesting. I wonder whether the dealer explained that they parts they fitted voided the vehicles warranty before delivery? Those that have tried to claim warranty from Suzuki are more than aware of the dim view they take to modifications and off road use.

I did a similar thing with a wrangler. Leased a new vehicle along with the mods. I gave the dealership my quote from the Jeep place, they invoiced BMW finance for the total amount and when paid transferred the extra funds to the 3rd party.

Was interesting as the dealership wasn't keen, no profit by not selling me their crap and I had to be firm with the sale. I also made it clear, that I realised any warranty work affected by said mods wouldnt be covered.

Had some small engine ancillaries fixed during the term of the warranty but never had a drama.if your fair and know your rights you shouldnt have a problem.

ok thanks guys. another dealer has offer a extra 2 years warranty and a bonus pack with 2 items. he wouldnt say what is in it though...any idea's?

Isn't there a face-lift model coming out soonish?

I'd save myself for that one, or I'd wait until its imminent and then get a cracker deal on the old model.

thanks squibby but my current 4wd needs some work to keep it going so nows a good time to sell its got 273,400km aswell so 300,000km will be a harder selling point

I wouldn't get too excited about the new jimny, i test drove one Monday and went over it with a fine tooth comb. Only difference... bonnet scoop, grill is separate to bonnet and front bumper. Everything else is exactly the same these style jimny's have been in japan for a few years now, ultimate ricer 4x4 over there.

Will also add japan have a 3cylinder turbo diesel model.

Just bought a 2012 red jimny (sierra) steel wheels, 5yrs warranty.... $18k, drive away.
Had to be firm on my offer. The first two dealers said no, but third one could do it.
Might help to go in towards the end of the month. Be ready to buy on the spot,
But prepared to walk away if they won't meet your price.

Well i have paid a deposit on a 2013 white jimny sierra with steel wheels. Can't get another colour till next year as though dont start building them till october then its a 3 month wait.

Pretty sure was fleet sales or Australian fleet something to that effect but don't be confused with Australian fleet sales car yard selling second hand cars etc nothing to do with them. These guys don't have a car for sale they shop the dealers for best price inc any extras etc you want, don't be surprised when they can get better prices on different coloured cars as dealers trying to get rid of overstock.

if you order with a ARB bar, dont hold your breath, we picked up the gv 3 weeks ago, and the bar is still a no show, not a big deal just alittle annoying as for best price, ring around

Screw arb I'm not a fan, how ever they do make a jimny bar and I have not seen many others. Some stuff I like and would pay for but it's not light on the wallet at all.

Well Tuesday it is. Will be swapping the H/T's for some dueler 697's for $60 a tire change over. Will get some good pics of the newer front. Shit thing is no one makes a bullbar for the new style.

Don't mind the grill. Love the bonnet, but I don't think the front bumper bar suits the car. But overall sweet looking car. Hope you enjoy driving it.

I don't mind the scoop. Will ditch the bar soon. Ended up paying $19,790 with rust protection and 10 years/175,000km warranty. Wasn't keen on ally wheels for a extra $1,000 could get after market ones that look better.

Good luck! Not many aftermarket alloys fit Jimnys, and the ones that did looked ghey imo, that's why I ended up with the sunnies
