hey guys my sills are pretty smashed up on my jimny and just touching the door now. i was wondering has anyone done a sill chop on a jimny then replaced it with some rhs then bolted it to the chassie if so could you post some pics up

I'm pretty sure nobody on here has done a sill chop on a Jimny yet.

I have done a repair to a fairly damaged Jimny sill and I don't think it would be any harder that on a Sierra. If you are going to reinforce the sill with RHS you shouldn't also attach to the chassis as the body and chassis aren't hard fixed.

If there hollow in there there isn't a difference, but if its got supports or weird ribbing it could throw the whole operation out. I plan on notching mine so I can run the chassis mounted supports up as high as possible...

When I had the black Jimny sill open for repair I don't remember seeing anything, pretty sure they are hollow

The chassis is way lower than the sills, but I was gonna do some body mounted sliders for mine still. The chassis can take a knock here and there and the angles usually punish your sills first. One of my plastic ones got ripped right off!

I couldnt figure out the best way to do it but I reckon RHS is the go. Bolt on? But to the body, not the chassis.

I wish I saved some pictures of the silver jimny when I was looking at buying my jimny. There is a silver jimny getting around the Sunshine Coast, he replaced his sills with about a three inch tube but it looks really neat, the jimny has had the grill cut off the bonnet and replaced it with some toy boy racer mesh.

They have a radius body panel under the plastic sill covers.
Just cut it out(its hollow) and put some rhs in there.

Does/did yours have plastic moulds on the doors?

Obviously not a Jimny, but it is an idea that you may consider.
Is fitted on to body panels with riv nuts
