unless your running a 200 KW V8 in it i'd say (like 90% on here) standard clutch. a lot of people think HD when replacing their clutch as they think it'll last longer..?! not true, and like they already said, you snap cables, bend clutch arms and the firewalls can't handle it as they are paperthin. i had to repair a fair few of them! Zoe has one in her sierra (was in it when she bought it) but that will be taken out sooner then later! too heavy and very hard to control when offroad..STANDARD CLUTCH my friend!

I don't believe there is extra pedal throw in mine. NPC explained that part of their mod is to adjust the lever points. As stated, I don't notice any difference in pedal pressure, or throw for that matter, than the standard. I do notice better performance and lack of smell.

Mine never smells, even when I towed the camper trailer to Moreton when the clutch was in its final days, depends on how you drive I guess.

Would there be a reason for the screaming cat noise only being there sometimes when the clutch is in thought the throw bearing was out butcould it be something else

I seem to be repeating myself a lot. With the exedy - No smell at all, and it was a clutch smell, usually when I wanted power at the lights - from 1st to 2nd.. My gearing isn't right so that attributes to the slippage under load. Sorry but that doesn't support your theory. In any case, this is way of topic. Just offering my own experience for the benefit of the OP to mak an informed decision.

Some lols in here, are people correctly installing and setting up there HD clutches?
The NPC HD unit in my soft top has a lighter pedal than the stock replacement in my tintop. The one in my tintop slips with 215's and a 1.6 on road at times... So far this clutch has lasted 31's 1.6 ungeard, 31's 4.9s, 33's 4.9s, 33's 6.5s back to 235's ungeard, 235's 1ltr and is now going 31's 6.5... I clutch dump lots, have ridden the clutch quite hard in the ungeared setups and never had an issue. Never broken a clutch cable or had a sore leg... All this from a clutch that was used when I purchased my softtop. And it costs around the same as a stock replacement.

I'd say not adjusted correctly.

Exactly!!!! I have an excedy HD clutch in both of my sierra's and a few people that have driven the cars can vouch that they didn't even know they were HD If you're getting the ON/OFF feeling then you need to loosen the clutch and have more free play The myth about snapping cables is just that!!! When i first installed the clutch on one of the cars it felt like the worst clutch in the world....was heavy on the foot...had that on/off feel and sprung back like a loaded shot gun. I had to move the clutch lever bracket on the gearbox 'forward' towards the engine to get more cable at the end poking through the lever. You are meant to leave at least 25-30mm of cable sticking out the end and have at least a 20-30mm free play in the pedal itself before it starts catching (feeling heavy). Once all this was done it felt soooooo smooth and the clutch pedal is exactly the same (if not better) than the standard It all comes down to how you setup and adjust the clutch but each to their own

Ok well i dont have no say here as my car is twice as large and twice as heavy.
Anyways i went HD, No pedal difference but mine is hydraulic, what i did need to do is adjust it and tighten the clutch pedal pivot bolt slightly more and a bit of wd40 to stop the squeak, but pedal feel is not noticeably different. One thing i do notice it grabs much quicker if need to do steep hill starts which helps esp on rocky inclines, but it also does put extra shock on the tail shaft.
It also helped in sand driving as the standard clutch overheated to quickly but again my xl is heavy while a vit piratically floats on sand mine sinks like a boat lol.
But cause of the vit size like everyone says standard is good. My Clutch has done 80,000k so far and i can already hear the bearing and noticed it slipping the other day, so again as others say HD dont last any longer if anything doesn't last as long as original lasted 100,000k.
PS WHY DO PEOPLE RIDE THEIR CLUTCH WHEN OFF ROAD? I did once and got slapped accross the back of a head by a 4x4 competition driver. The accelerator controls the speed not the clutch if struggle thats what low range is for.

It's for the extra control is really tricky situation where minimal wheel speed is key to avoid wheel slip. Lil foot also runs an excedy HD with no issues (cept that its got mud in it now). Everyone that's driven it or seen it drive can deffo vouch that it isn't on/off and has very good control.

haha how did you know? Been slaped too? I was testing out the new comp track around 5 years ago, also just had the new shocks and springs put in a week before (which wasnt done right) and being on there and how long my car is i was to scared of going over the edge. ive learnt to drive with out ridding but yeah is hard in certain situations i just limit it mainly just to hill starts if have to get over rocks, as if do to much clutch overheats and like brakes there is also clutch fade. Start the climb and go for it, havent broken anything yet, but think my uni joint has had a good hammering and prob needs replacing...

Nah, I know how to drive... I did that "comp" with my camper trailer & all the other tracks so it can't be too hard

Going by the Arial photo of loveday the comp track that i did 5 years ago isn't there anymore was a track he was building next to the one in front of the tavern. I haven't been back since, possibly going this weekend. Was more of a climbing comp circuit track quite high in some parts, he was still working on it at the time he told me to try it out. Other track pretty was deigned to pretty much put the foot to the floor and hope for the best and get as much air as you can.
