What about the Jimny EFI motor? Not sure whether these have any known issues, but the Vitara 1.6's are getting old and the blocks are known to crack.

I see in your profile your in NSW. Suzispares, are in Seven Hills and specialise in Suzuki new and used stuff. My understanding is that this supplier is good but usually items can be found cheaper with some effort, Ive never used them.
Otherwise your local wreckers are the go. Given how many cracked blocks are turning up a lot of people are going for Baleno motors which are the newer varient of the same motor.

"best" is a matter of opinion. best for one person might be the jimny g13bb which requires wiring but is otherwise direct bolt in, whereas best for another person might be the j20a which requires a fair bit more work to fit in but is much more powerful. you asked for opinions, and it is peoples opinion that you should search since there are (no exaggeration) literally dozens of topics covering engine conversions... people have done g16a/b, g13bb, ca18, ecotec v6, j20a, 4age, and i think theres a couple of rb20 conversions too, plus heaps i've missed. "best" is up to you. we dont say search just because we can, we say search so you can make the best informed decision.

I didn't ask for an endless list of motors you can put in it. I asked what motors will bolt in to the engine conversion kit that is already in it, but which won't end up cracking like the one I have,

You have a g13b.
A g13ba and g13bb will both bolt in without kit.
A g16a and Vitara g16b will bolt in with the kit, but are prone to cracking.
A Baleno g16b will bolt in with the kit. I'm yet to hear of one of these cracking.
A j20a will bolt in with the kit.

Anything other then standard will also require alot of other work, it's only the motor that is a bolt in.

He has a G16a so he already has the kit.

The engines you can bolt in are... (I know you want efi but for the sake of completeness I'l include the carby motors)

G13a/G13ba (standard Sierra motor, 8v carby motor)
Another G16a (Early SWB Vitara motor, SOHC 8v carby)
G13b (Swift GTi motor, DOHC, 16v, efi, high performance motor)
G13bb (early Jimny motor, SOHC 16v, efi)
G16b (Vitara/Baleno motor, SOHC 16v efi)
J20a. (Vitara motor, DOHC 16v efi)

In Suzuki engine codes the number is the engine capacity in litres without the decimal place, so G13b is a 1.3l, an F10a is a 1 litre ect.

It all comes down to personal choice, I would go for a G13bb or G13b if I wanted to go up in the power stakes but most pick a G16b.
