Hi Guys Got a 1987 Pretty stock zook 1.3Ltr

Are any of the $650 Suspension upgrades any good????

Also is it worth putting a snorkel on?? Does it give any better preformance???

Will a 2'' Exhaust help either mine looks like 1'' ???

In one word NO, you get what you pay for, nothing off the shelf is really any good either.

snorkel is fine for what its meant foe, i.e keeping water out of the engine. not for performance.

exhaust will not give you anything better in performance either.

You get what you pay for. Do some research on the number of people who have bought ebay kits and complain about the terrible ride.

I was out with a car running an eBay kit the other day and it was insanely stiff.

Do you "have to buy" a steering damper? I bet not.

Does a snorkel improve performance? No.
A 2" exhaust is likely overkill for a stock 1.3

The best way to improve your car is to drive it and address issues as they arise. We have no idea how you want to use your car so we can't help inform you about what is worth doing.

Cheers For the Info, Might have a rethink about the Suspension Kit then.

Do you guys know where good kits are available, all i wanna do is put 27'' maybe 30'' Mud terrain under it just for a toy on the weekend.
No real serious 4WDing.

A 2" suspension lift does not assist in fitting larger tyres, because the tyres can still move up just as far towards the guards as before the lift was installed, they just do it less often.

Some minor trimming and hammering seams should fit up to a 30" tyre.

If your not worried with the ride how it is now then just Do a body lift to clear the bigger tyres, but then again depends if your going for the 27's or the 30's that you mentioned? Maybe the guard massaging would be enough



Edit: oops, only skim read the previous posts and didn't see what Steve said about 30's fitting with just trimming

When I fitted 30s to my 1l Sierra all I did was trim the bumper mounts down and I added some bump stop spacing. I probably could have gotten away without the bump stop spacing if I flattened the firewall seams but one of my bumpstops was missing so I adapted a pair from another car which were longer.

I'd probably do it the other way around - shocks first, then springs.

How much is to get some of the factory height springs reset to the same arch and then mix the leafs,
Is that a sensible option at all?

Firstly do you know why you want/need bigger tyres? this may help with what sort of height upgrade you require. if your only going for looks/better traction, why not look at a set of good all terrains and some decent offset'd wheels rather then larger?

I'd just spring over it and add some longer shocks... Or RUF with OME 2" rear springs and shocks to suit, or just body lift it 2" before i bough any off the shelf kits... there are many ways to lift a car, however non of them may suit your needs or how you drive. you need to figure out how/where your susspension is failing YOU before anyone can tell you how to fix it.

As for the snorkel, they arent designed for 'performance' they are designed to keep water from entering your intake. however, the G13's dont tend to like water much (I found this out a few times haha) The dizzy/carby/coil are already highly set on a Sierra, so I personally think youd be wasting money getting one, especially if your not doing anything serious.

And as for the exhaust, I went with a 1.5" when I upgraded the carby/intake, and it was pretty nice to drive, no gain in power but it did allow it to rev out smother. 2" is too big IMO..
