mazda 323 rears.

went on a drive for a few days and on the way back my rear brakes started to stay on and consequently roast everything.

ive had them only for about 6 months with no issues untill two days ago??
I just put new pads cleaned them up etc but they are still staying on. not locked up but just dragging.

I read a few posts by christover saying theres a residual valve but I cant find anything.

is my best bet just to rip all the hard lines and shit from the mc to the rear and run one line?

My shitbox vit did this, the brake fluid ended up being contaminated and every thing returned to working as normal after a fluid change.

Worth a go. The rear brakes on the vit would gradually lock up and eventually the car wouldn't move. Parked up for half hour or so and they would release.

A residual valve was fitted to rear brakes at master cylinder, on my 1.0 litre zook. I have no idea if fitted to 1.3's.
Shep's is the most likel;y answer.
But the rear discs cop a lot more muck,
and can rust up the caliper slides.
Sandpaper, emery etc abnd a thin lick of grease could fix

If the flush doesn't work I would take the calipers off and check the slides are working as they should and the piston isn't seized.

well I put new pads in and the pistons went back in so I guess ill just flush them and see if that works

when you changed the pads, did you just jam the caliper back onto the rotor with the new pads or did you crack the bleed nipple and compress the caliper than give the brakes a quick bleed?

just got a clamp and pushed the pistons back in then put them on.

was it hard, without opening the bleed nipple, doing that pushes all the fluid back (like pushing shit up hill)
i would get a smack doing that at work.
try give the rears a quick bleed and see if that fixes the problem. seen that done to the front of a pootrol from one of the aj kids, fronts wouldnt come off after that and eventually worked up enough heat and caught fire.

I bled them but nothing changed so I pulled out the slides gave them a buff with steel wool and cleaned the gunk out of them and now theyre all good. thanks guys
