Hi guys, just a quick one, I've recently put in a 2in spring lift, and installed longer shocks (blue max) but the ride was absolutely SHOCKING! I took a leaf out of all the packs (a little better, but still spine breaking) and a few days later , installed the standard rear shocks, this made it monumentally better to drive on road, but these are at near on full travel when flexed..

Are the commodore shocks approximately the same rate as std sierra ones, or will I run into the same problems as I'm encountering now?

Any help would be appreciated!

No it's a not so well known company called blue max, they're not as cheap as blupac, (probably halfway between them and OME quality) but the shocks are just plain fu#*ed ride quality wise.. I imagine blupac wouldn't be much better, but considering their price, I'd still consider them (maybe take a leaf out like I did to soften them up a bit.)

I have changed the pressures ranging from 15psi, right up to 35, and everything in between, to no avail. I'm happy to use std shocks for now, but once i get a little more height out of it, I'd like to change them to extended type.

Seriously no difference felt? Try 22 or less - no higher EVER...

The problem stockman, is that you can't read

Kayarubin for a budget shock I've used Boge turbo shocks. They seem to be fairly softly valved with descent travel. I'm running koni 80 series rebound adjustable shocks which are a bit more pricey but have been the best shocks I've had under any leafy so far.

When I ran the commo/lux combo (like everyone says) there valves a bit stiff for a Sierra, but are very reasonable.

I also think its due to the leaf springs also. I run commo shocks on the front of my jimny, and the valving is spot on!

I've got the same problem in my sierra. Very harsh ride with leaf springs and Rancho 5000 shocks. I think the brand of springs is 'rock crawler'. They were purchased and installed by the previous owner at 4wd1 shop

Yes i am running the lror 3" springs but i recently picked up my sierra from the shop and pretty happy what they did to the springs to make them flex,

They pulled a leaf out from each pack and heated them then recorved them so im a touch higher then 3" but flexs very good, but still a pretty bumby ride, but they are brand new springs so they will soften up abit, but after time i will like to try diffrenet shocks see whats softer and comfier

Calmini do a 3" spring and there also very stiff.

reverse shackle brings it to 5" lift

don't use rancho's... i run the adjustable (9000) in my maruti and on the softest setting the rear was ok-ish but the front is still waaay too firm.

My next will be Koni most likely, I just had some weird lengths to match and when I rang Koni shocks they weren't very helpful. And doetch shocks were still 300 cheaper

4" rear and they are to soft on a lwb, can invert stock shackles driving up a gutter. Flex like a slinky but.
