Hi guys,
I've got a 96 Vitara JLX Estate (the big 5 door hard-top model) that broke down some time last year. Now, there's an issue with the crankshaft where the keyway for the belt pulley on the front of the engine has gone out of whack, pretty much tripled in size, causing the pistons to fire out of time. I've been informed it'll need a rebuild or engine replacement, round about $2.5k. So now I'm left wondering whether it's worth selling and what I'll get for it, or to wait until I have a bit of cash and get onto the rebuild, (maybe an engine upgrade). I do have a project in mind, but I won't have the money for a while. And she was my first car, so there's all that sentimental value etc etc
According to a few calculators it's worth $3.5-5k still, in working order. Has brand new tyres (Toyo Open Country A/T's), bullbar, A/C.
So long story short: Is it worth selling? If it's worth selling, then how much should I be looking for?
Cheers, Kweese
