i reckon you should just try the shit tyres. be a guinea pig, they may be not bad tyres just no one is prepared to try them out.
the brand names MAY last longer and MAY have better grip. but how much better? no one here say say exactly because we havent tried. try them and be sure to let everyone know.
i could understand the comment "tyres are the only thing keeping your car on the road & in control" if we were talking race cars or high speed. (i run R-comp semi slicks on my skyline) but we are not we are talking very slow light 4wd's these tyres are dot/adr approved so they are not going to be any more dangerous than any other low cost tyre, they will meet at least the mnimum requirmements for safety, who knows they may even be fantatic for the price.

pffft "we are talking very slow light 4wd's these tyres are dot/adr approved so they are not going to be any more dangerous than any other low cost tyre" The only time you would find out if they are shit is when you need the fruckers to work and work properly. Just because the tyre is round and black and cheap doesn't mean that it will stop you in the wet when you really need it or if you happen to take that corner just a bit to fast and you need to stay on the road. I would always stick with a brand know tyre that I have either dealt with personally or had personal recommendations from. My sales pitch to customers and my own personal motto is take your budget for tyres and go just above it getting to get the best tyre that you can afford. Dave

I once had simex tires span out on a train track doing 40 in rain, I know a good compound is needed.
I was told not to listen about silica being in tires as its sales hype and there is so little in the rubber its useless.
Keep reading guys in usa say these chesp tyres are great, surely if they where crap in winter you will read about it as if they loose traction in snow or rain they bitch about it real quick, I know first hand what roads are like over there is hell scarry seeing a big gmc or f150 sliding towards you out of control at trafic lights, happens alot.
Try them dont like them sell them, if I find one bad comment on them ill cross them of the list. Oh how well are bridgestone known everyone with gv, s who had the original ht tires know how crap they are in the wet, some times brand dont mean nothing. But tires that looze traction in the wet aint nice, xl7 never slid out only issue was hill starts on wet roads with the bridgestons.

I think you'd be hard pressed to find a modern road tyre that is genuinely dangerous to drive on. I guess that depends how you define dangerous. I think my bartreads are genuinely dangerous but every other 4wd tyre I've driven on were fine.
Still, buy the best you can afford. By best I don't mean most expensive, put in the research and you'l see which ones get good reviews.

Its all opinions.....
One person thinks one tyre is the best in the world, another person thinks its the worst in the world. but what are these oppinoins based on? especially on the internet, you might be reading a post by a 12yr old kid who has never even driven a car!!
I'd stop listening to oppinions, count your pennies, and spend teh maximum you can afford.
I do agree that good tyres are worth the price, but i have had many cheap tyres which have done a great job as well.
If you dont know what to get, go middle of the range in something with a brand name, thats always a safe bet.

Quote from there website Characteristics of tyre: Excellent traction. Skid prevention on wet road. Robust construction to improve bead area durability.

Was going to suggest get a pair of good all terrains to replace the Falkens now, get another pair to replace the Achilles in a month or so.
The linglongs kinda not really look like a bfg at, if they handle anything like them on wet bitumen I wouldn't want them.

I wouldn't put any trust in American truck owner reviews for a tyre you would be putting on a suzuki. The weight of those things is so much different to a zook that there's very little relevance. Plus what's a nice comfy ride on a heavy truck might be a godawful heavy sidewall that won't bag up on a zook.

OK as a data point, several sets of Goodyear Wrangler tyres, both in AT and MT form, have lasted me well into 70000km's per set, thats longer than some people here get from an engine, perhaps some people have done the miles on some cheap tyres might want to give honest results on what they have got? Other factors to consider when saying its a slow light 4wd dont relate to running around on bitumen, how will the rubber work on dirt and gravel? I have found dirt road performance of tyres to vary HUGELY and was another reason I kept going back to good tyres, I knew it was safe to drive on dirt and gravel at a decent speed and still have some reserve incase I had to swerve or stop quickly, I had some tyres that were scary at below the posted limit for the road section. Not to mention what the surface does to the tyre, will gravel chip it badly? will the edges feather up and get chopped away? are they running a light weight sidewall that will stake easilly? (youll only need to not be able to repair 1 tyre to make the cheap set a waste of money) These are some reasons why good tyres are expensive and why there is way more to it than jsut considering the tread pattern (in my opinion tread pattern matters little), likewise they are subject to a lot worse conditions and stress than your average passenger car ever will. But you know, this is a thread to justify being cheap, not for actual advise or solutions from other people so it doesnt really matter

Don't be like that, when has your name brand hoodie - tee or boardshorts outlasted the generic?? My "av" name glasses are polorised, very scratch resistant and less than 1/3 the price of them "cool" ones are still going strong (probably made in the same country) . Yes I have only given a few examples of stuff but you get the idea...
I would almost guarantee the majority of the tyres are being made by a few companies and the ones with the trendy name on the side fetch another 20 bucks a corner

FWIW my Oakleys are years old and still going strong, all the cheap jumpers in my cupboard stay there and my Mountain hardwear jumper goes everywhere cause it works and cant be killed. I am sure the manufacture process for them compared to the cheap stuff is the same but the materials are what makes the difference, same with tyres otherwise f1 teams would all ring ding lings as well.

Generally i'm paying the same price as BiG W new clothing but it last many more years and washes. Which is why i love brand name 2nd hand 205 70 15 tyres... nobody wants them Still be nice if 3 or 4 people took a punt on the lings and leaos to see how they do
