HELP!
my jimny has a 1600mm wheel track on -15mm 15/7s and 30x9.5s.
for my trailer ill be using Jimny rims and eventually the same 30x9.5s, just on std rims no offset.
1600mm= 63"
-9.5" = 53.5" face to face for the hubs, which are http://www.trailersparesdirect.com.au/h ... hub-drums/ HD10X2F100P 10" x 2.25" F100 Stud Parallel Bearing
on the bottom of that page it says the 'stud distance' is 80mm or 3".
so does that mean my trailer will need a 59" axle?

82mm is how far apart studs are from each other.

Make sure trailer axle maker is using same system as you.
Most give a tip to tip measurement,
not a wms (face) to face measurement.

Yes, best to check with supplier, drum hubs could be longer than standard hubs, thus needing a different length.

This only works with the ford or holden bearing sets.

This one is like a shep special with the parallel bearing sets so I don't know the offset of the top of my head.

The offset is the same as long as the bearing sets are the same

apparently according to the supplier the tip to tip axle length with those parallel bearing braked hubs, needs to be 120 mm longer.

Check the angle of the drawbar in relation to the trailer!!!!!! This thing was surely about to snap! It was flexing at the trailer/drawbar connection!

If SA is the same as Qld and he built it himself he would have just completed the Stat Dec saying it complied. Qld Transport doesn't inspect homemade light weight trailers prior to rego.

Picked this up yesterday for 2 cases of beer.
Weighs 160kg and takes 5 minutes to setup.
Has an awning too that stows away.
Can leave the bed made up and have a bit of floor space too when it's up.
Brilliant!!!
The body exterior is very grubby but nothing a good wash won't fix.
The canvas needs a clean and maybe a new mattress but hey it's worth it.

I had this in my favourites from when I was designing my trailer, just saw it this morning and thought I should share.

Design specs for trailer drawbars

There is 2 good links on here with British design specs, I used the excel spread sheet for working out my single drawbar size.

If using these charts remember that they use British standard steel specs for the calculations and Australian standard steel grades are a lot better the UK standards.

Minimum Yield stress for UK steel= 235 MPa
Minimum Yield stress for AU steel= 350 MPa (or 450 MPa for DuraGal)
