Removed front and rear bumpers over the last week getting ready to get some bars made up, would be very keen on seeing what you guys have done...

Look in the business directory for JML gear - he does the best front bar I've seen - the only reason I haven't bought one is I haven't yet figured out the logistics of getting it half way around the world.

thanks fordem, as you noted the logistics to ship to NZ are prob in the too hard backet too, given the weight. The GV bumber i thought was ok but a bit flat... the jimney one with more lines looks GOOD

search the GV build threads...

few people have done custom bars + the stickied thread in the fab section called example bullbars or something like that.

New Zealand is just next door, I'm willing to bet there's some level of trade between the two countries - you just need to explore the options - call a few shipping companies and ask about LCL (less than container load) from Australia to NZ.

Just as an example - there is a near continuous flow of ship traffic between the US and the various islands in the Caribbean - a vessel out of Miami takes 11 days to get to Guyana with stops at several of the islands en route. If that bumper were anywhere in the US, I could have it on a truck to Miami, and then a boat here - it would take no more than two weeks and cost maybe US$150 - I would need palletised dimensions to get an accurate figure.

Good point about the shipping....I just realised that I'm prob going to have to get someone here to build on truck cause of the body lift which is 1 inch...

If that's intended for me - there are not that many Grand Vitara owners here who would buy - now if it were a Hilux bar - but then again, we have an ARB reseller here already bringing those by the container load.

oneinkedgeek - the JML bar has a height "adjustable" mount - designed to allow for body lifts - although I believe the options are no lift or a 2" lift - it really is well though through. Talk to Joe, I don't think it would be that difficult to modify the mount for it to handle a 1" lift

JML bar with 9,000lbs Bushranger winch no lift but brackets suitable for 2" body lift. Airbag compatable and meets all ADR rules and regs.

The secret is in the mounts.

Yeah the mounts go down into the chassis, when I mounted mine the went down to the same point my airbag compatible nudge bar brackets went.
