Has anyone taken a jimny body right off? 99 model non airbag.

I need to lift it to put in a BL but wouldn't mind getting it right off or as high as I can so I can repaint the chassis and do the underside of the body if I can get to it.

Just wondered what the basic steps to doing it are and the best way to go about it.

I've done it, you will have just enough room to fit a body lift without undoing much else.
If you want to paint, then you will need to undo a bit more to get it high enough.
Either 6 or 8 body mounts from memory.

Yeh I have the nylon BL kit ready to go, but just thought if I'm jacking it up I wouldnt mind taking it right off so I can paint the whole chassis properly, and also would like to paint the underside of the body in sound deadner. just didn't know off hand what all the things are that need to be undone or disconnected to take the body right off - obviously break lines and the such, steering column, I am also guessing handbrake cables, I have air locker so that will need to be disconnected - other things I am missing?

IMO it's not worth the hassle lifting the body off, stuey did the underside of his vitara without separating the body from the chassis.

wait til the BL is done then do the tidy up.

Body off and body raised are very different jobs. Body off is a huge job.
Like atari4x4 said do it on the car.

Sounds good to me - from the look of things on that link - although its not a Jimny - I'm guessing that I will be able to get in there and get to all the areas I need and mask of things as well as pulling a few things out if needed

and it will still be way less work than pulling the body off.

from memory i jacked a good 5" on the left, as there's less shit connected there.
that's plenty to get a brush in.

right is a bit harder,steering shaft as you said think i still had to get 4" to get all the blocks and bolts in, and i didn't even put them in the right place ( viewtopic.php?f=5&t=40006)
bend up the bracket holding the vacuum lines to the hubs ( i bent mine up 2", which with extra hose was fine to jack the body 4" off the chassis but everyone's hoses are different just pay attention while jacking it and dont let them get too tight)
there's 2 lines coming down from the master cylinder to a cast ally block bolted to the chassey on mine, i unbolted it and let it go free, but you can gradually bend up the solid lines to that as it will be perminantly higher with a BL.
a lot of people re bracket it in its new higher position

if your putting in extended brake lines i recommend getting or borrowing a 10 mm flare nut spanner, the metal on the break line nuts is soft as shit. i had to replace a whole line because i fucked the nuts with cheap tools, cost me 40 bucks and had to replace the entire hard breakline. the line the rear right gets a bit tight if you dont extend it

Thanks for the tips Jezza, I will make sure to buy the spanner as I am sure if I use it once I will use it again.
