So im thinkin its time to renew the brakes.. if im in reverse and put the brakes on I can hear and feel a thunk thru the pedal, same thing when taking off from pulling up backwards(reverse parking for example) take off and first time foot goes on the brake.. Clunk..im guessing pad is slipping or something!?)

I cant afford to go the rear disc upgrade at the moment, so am just going to replace with standard pads both front n rear..

Just after some part numbers..

Rear shoes:
Rear pistons(?):
Front Pads:

any other suggestions or thigns I need to be aware of!? chime in ;)

Check your axle seals and wheel bearings while you're there, as well as your rear wheel cylinders.

Doing a brake fluid flush probably wouldn't hurt either.

Check the condition of your rotors, they may need to be machined.
Also measure the thickness, minimum is 8.5mm. If they need replacing you might as well upgrade to Vitara rotors and calipers. 8)

I like to pull out the manual and follow each page step-by-step. It reminds me of playing with Lego when I was a kid.

curious about the vit rotor and caliper conversion. excuse my ignorance but how difficult is it to do. Is there a thread you know of covering this.

Cheers

Have a read through my build, and Damo's. It should be pretty well covered there.
