Stock length. I can measure tomorrow if noone else posts up a length.

So the auto and vit tc is around the length of a jack shaft

As Joe said, we both use them a lot, I find Vit low 2wd is great for following land barges, pootrols, rolluxs and range oilers, on steep good traction tracks. With the air shift its also easier to pop it into low while idling around camp so as not to run over dogs and small people. In high range it's pretty much stranded vitara as the Vit speedo reads accurate. Low, low is one of the best things I've ever done to the car! I've got engine braking on stupid steep stuff and even find myself throttling on down hills at times, then at the bottom of the hill you pop the air shift and its a more fuel conserving 1L low range. And well we all know what low gears do for going up hills and over rocks. With the auto and the air shift it really is a a point and shoot drive now and that's good, I work to hard to be all week to be bothered doing it when I go 4wding. Now Joe how can we make the hubs and 1L TC air shift?
Worth every cent and every hour spent on it.

My front diff is about 1 inch forward.

Ken you wouldn't know how long is ur rear shaft is and how much of a angle it is on at full droop

You can us a wt long side axle and a lj80 stockman axle and you end up with the right width and offset

i was looking into the ins and outs of building a couple of rear vitara diffs for just that purpose. i.e putting a sierra case in a vit

If you want to see the difference there is some pictures in my build thread where I've laid a vit transfer and box beside the vit box and shortened jack shaft which suits an unmodified sierra tcase position.

I was trying to work out how to do twins without moving the sierra case back, I still think it's doable I should dig up the thread I found where a bloke overseas had done it.

My doubler keeps the SJ tbox in the stock position, I used to have it fitted using the original frame mounts but it was a nightmare to remove and refit with the one piece guard/mount.



I run 33s with stock 3.73 samurai diffs and a 5 speed manual gearbox. I used to run it with a 4.16 SJ tbox but found that I never really shifted the doubler into low so have now swapped back to a standard 410 tbox, I think it's geared pretty much spot on for the offroading I do now. I think with 37s, auto, a doubler and 4.16 tbox it would be geared pretty well if used with lower ratio diffs.

my old ratios with the 4.16 tbox were
hi-hi 1.580:1
lo-hi 2.8756:1
hi-lo 4.16:1
lo-lo 7.571:1

The ratios with a 410 tbox are
hi-hi 1.580:1
lo-hi 2.8756:1
hi-lo 2.511:1
lo-lo 4.57:1

As for prop shafts my transmisson is mounted 50mm higher than stock and I run YJ springs so I have a bit of a wheelbase stretch both front and rear. On the front I just run a standard 410 prop as they are around 25mm longer than samurai props then on the rear I run a stock 410 rear prop (again around 25mm longer) with a 25mm spacer because I have also re-drilled the spring perches and plates back an extra 25mm.

This is as close as I can get to full droop on jack stands, there's not much more left in it though, any more will be up travel on the other side.
