Another out of the norm question . Does anyone know off hand what the gear counts are in the older sj410 t/cases . I have not looked for years and the site that used to have the information is dead , jeff's xtfer#2 page . I have all the countds for the gears used in the rockhopper but would like to know the others , a site and web search have not revieled anything .

Thanks
Chris

A while ago a wreckers gave me 3 foam boxes with gears in them. He was unsure but he thought they were the left over gears from back in the 80s when they'd put Corolla motors in LJs and put higher ratio gears in the transfer case. One of the sets even appears to be unused. They're all the same ratio and this is the tooth counts.

Now that's certainly not an LJ gearset and the gears are far to big to fit. The high range works out at 1.590, same as a non-switch case. Bingo!

Sources seem to suggest a low range of 2.558:1. For that last gear (which none of mine sets included) if we substitute 57 teeth then it works out correctly.

As an aside, my early 1l Sierra workshop manual lists the low range of the non-switch case as 2.716:1. I can't find another reference to them having that ratio so it must have been a typo, that's very odd for a manufacturer produced manual though. It wasn't a one off either, there was a table that referenced that ratio too.

Obviously that's not a definitive answer but I asked the same thing a while go and didn't get a reply so I thought I'd contribute.

Thanks for that . They are different to the 410 with a light so must be the ones .

Cheers
