Hey all -

On the way home from work my headlights failed to turn on, but the high beam indicator stays lit all the time.
It was a blown fuse - I replaced it and it blew right away.
I am going out to investigate some more, but it sounds like a blown light to me, anyone have other ideas?

Assuming it is a light, what is a great replacement option, aside from HID?

OK, found the LH hlight is really dim, I guess it is farked.

So, what is a good replacement? Bright is good...

i'd make sure the wires to the light itself are in good condition and not earthing out on the body.
I've never heard of a fuse blowing because of the globe.

Check the left hand head light fuse because they blow and still have a slight connection just enough to give it a dim glow. Had this happen a couple of times.

short on the dash/tailight circuit makes the high beam light come on and headlights go funny, is it the 4th fuse from the left on the top row?

check anything wired into these circuits 1st, then tailights and parkers by unplugging them then the ciggy lighter

It is the top left fuse that is blowing.

I have my tools and multimeter home now, I'll investigate in the morning. Cheers for the help.

OK after replacing the globes, I still didn't have one light working properly.
I took it to an auto electrician to diagnose this mystery fault...

Turns out that headlights have a fuse per side, not one for both! Yeah yeah I know all you knew this, I had no clue. One was still blown, and backfeeding through the other, causing the dim light.

Anyway the Auto leccy made fun of me, as did my mate, and now you all can as well.

Yeah auto electrical is black magic... Uses a different grade of smoke.
