So i bought a new 32/36 weber carby the other day for my 1989 Sierra softop, currently waiting for it to arrive. I have a few questions being:
- how to use a manual choke, and if i will even have to use it often being in North Queensland?
- how much does the fuel consumption change?
- finally, how much of a power increase has been found from previous conversions from the stock g13a carby to the weber?

Manual choke should be cable operated but up in FNQ you will probably find a few pumps of the accelerator would be all it needs to get going if cold
- how much does the fuel consumption change?
Depends on how you drive it. On the highway I still managed to get around 11L/100K if cruising at 100KPH

With the weber and a descent exhaust (extractors 2inch etc) the power increase is considerable. Quite noticeable

Im in SA way south, chock not needed with either a 32/36 or a 38/38, better carb by far is the 38/38,
both must be given a decent exhaust, and use 98 only,
advance timing to around 13btdc to get best benifit, play with it a bit, you will find the sweetest spot.

I'm also thinking about a weber. 2 reasons. We're rebuilding a basket case vit g16a, changed from auto to manual, have doubts about orig carb.
1. Everything has been sitting for over 4 yrs and probly all sorts of things a stuck or blocked. Kits and parts would run up close to an eBay weber kit prices.
2. Going from auto to manual,,, wiring gives me doubts on the fuel cut solenoid working correctly (although it does click but could be blocked)
It's now got new extractors, hi flo cat, open muffler,2" zorst and will fire up with a trickle of fuel down the carb but I'll not run as is. So fuel related issues are rife.

How much simpler is the plumbing of the weber compared to the original vitara carb?

Well I stripped and cleaned the original carb. I thought if I'm going for a weber I have nothing to loose and something to learn by having a crack at it.
Everything. I mean everything was blocked. Cleaned it all out. Now running pretty good.
No weber for me just yet.
