I have a Suzuki Vitara 1996 4 door 2L 6 Clyinder.

My steering stiff last week. I thought Power Steering (PS) died. This week it works 40% of the time and the other 60% is stiff.
Its not a fan belt.
Its not air in Hydraulic fluid. (if it was it would stay dead because not enough pressure from air.) My last service replaced the fluid.
- must be in the gear box?
Please help if you can. Want to try fixing before sending to a M3CHAN1C $$$

Gearbox? You mean steering box?

My money would be on the pump. $$ for fix, or take your chances with a replacement used one...

M8 i got the same problem SOMETIMES but only when i start it in the mornings SOMETIMES feels as though there is something stopping the steering from turning but then after i move about 20 meters then it frees up no leaks and the fluid seems fine... i was just going to get a 2nd hand pump and see if that works
