Hey guys and gals

I am looking at a 2009 Jimny which has already over 200,000km on the clock, can anyone make some suggestions to the max life expectation on the 1.3l vvt engine?

I just want to avoid buying something like that and having to replace the engine short time later. I know it always depends on how was the car driven etc. but all cars have their weak points and maybe some of you have experiences with high kms.

Thers no reason it wont see another 100 000 if its been looked after. Just means if your going to upgrade from a m13 to a m15,m16 or even a m18 you have an excuse if it dies earlier

There's plenty of low mileage M13a engines floating around and often for a bargain price. I've got a good bottom end and head available for $300 with 110,000kms.

I agree the 1.3 engines are dirt cheap but an upgrade to a 1.5 would be worthwhile. 200,000 for a 2009 model is pretty high. Listen for any noises from wheel bearings and transfer case. Check for oil leaks from all the usual places. Ask how come it has done so may km. Post up some pics and we can offer opinions.

Totally agree with Mike, driveline would be more of a concern and I'd definitely be asking about the car's history.

Sounds like a rental. If so was it a rental in an area where it would've seen a lot of beach work.

id be staying clear from it . for that sort of money you could get a jimny with lower kms
and in better nic. don't limit your self with the models .

i'm not suggesting you should buy these rigs' what im merely suggesting 'you should do is a bit of home work. this will pay off for you in the end .


personally i would be looking else where even if it means you have to travel i did

Yes, I will have a look around, I am not in a hurry.

But traveling across oz needs to be really worth it...
