Got a problem I'm trying to hunt down for a bloke. Pump to activate front diff isn't working. New pump been fitted by previous mechanic. No 4wd light coming on when lever shifted to 4wd, switch working ok. Where is the controller that turns the pump on?

Looks like it is under the dash up from the drivers footwell.

Thanks Watermouse! That's exactly what I needed. I'm surprised there's no relay to run the pump though

On some vehicles the 4WD control is done by the ECU - this is more likely to be the case if you have an automatic transmission.

When you engage 4wd the pump runs for about one second and is pretty quiet.

If there is a relay it will be housed within the control unit.

Managed to get the pump working with all my fiddling but the front diff won't engage. Assuming something is broken or seized internally. Still can't get the 4wd light on the dash to work though. If I unplug the pump then the light comes on and stays on.
