Hey guys,
I have a lightbar which is to be mounted to my roof basket shortly, however I am unsure as to how people have wired theirs.
Was thinking of running a new line down with the aerial, or perhaps through the foot of the roof rails.
Anyone know a better way?

Take a look through Zukenutters build thread. He has ended up with a cable gland through the roof.

Yeh from memory he drilled a hole through the roof - not 100% keen on that path. Mostly because I know I will mess it up somehow. Haha.

I ran mine up the drivers side on the windscreen in a temp plastic stick on duct from bunnings. Works well and looks neat enough and isn't permanent.

I'm sure you could use your snorkel to hide most of the conduit. It would just be the last bit from the top snorkel bracket to the antenna that would be most obvious.

That was another thought I had Pete. I read of people even putting it inside the snorkel, but I think drilling holes in the top and bottom to run the cable sort of defeats the purpose of having the snorkel in the first place. Haha.

This is what I did.

Only mod the antenna to fit the cabling.

Perfect! Thats exactly that I was thinking of. Especially with the disconnect.

My plug style gland is still leak free but I should have just done the antenna hole, so much simpler.

I saw a light bar mounted on a Jimny roof in a car yard. The wiring had been run down the hinged side of the back door and then in behind the tail light

Certainly an interesting approach. I would be worried about running the conduit from the rail foot over the roof into the cavity - although only a small run, I think it would look quite ugly to be honest.

No worries. I took these pics about 2-3 months ago. I'm going to do the same for my Jimny. (Have a custom roof basket, no rails). I have two light bars mounted to my roof now, just not wired up

I had my old Jimny roof lights wired similarly to this ^^. Worked fine but voltage drop may be an issue with such a long path.
