I am having trouble getting the gearbox back into my son's sj50.
Once the tail end is over the cross member there seems to be insufficient room to manouvre.
If I put the box in first I can't get the tail end up over the cross member.
Can someone give me some advice please?

It can be done, but takes a lot of dicking around.

Cut a small v into the cross member.

iirc the part being cut isnt strutural, i think it's a left over from where the 1.0l gearbox used to bolt up.

Break the exhaust, tie it out of the way, and put the box in from the left side.

x2 did this over the weekend. only way was to remove exhaust.
