Hi all. This is my first time posting but I have been perusing this site for many years. I have found this site to be excellent in answering all of my queries in regards to my Sierra and now have a much greater understanding of my car.
While searching online for different locker options I came across Lamda cable actuated diff lockers made in India. Has anyone heard of these and if so what is your opinion of them.

Firstly, that price works out at $792 + freight+duty/GST, so it's not a cheap option.

I'm not a great fan of anything with an actuator at the rear (or especially the front) of the housing. It also appears a flange is welded onto the housing in order to bolt the actuator cover on. Again, that's not necessarily something that's a great idea, because the cover is structural. Highly stressed rear housings can split the cover to housing weld, indicating there's a LOT of load going through that cover.

I can't comment on the strength or quality. In theory, that design should allow a very large dog clutch so, if constructed from the right materials, it should be plenty strong. I will say though their cast freewheeling hubs look pretty rough.

Could be worth a try, although for around 800 clams AUD (plus shipping I imagine) you’re getting close to the cost of an ARB air locker

Thanks Steve. After hearing stories about ARB airline issues I thought these might be a more reliable option for a part time locker. They seem to like them in India according to their forums. I'll have to have a think. I might just buy it, you never know 'till you give it a go right?

Just use the heavy duty air line kit and forget about it. It’s not in a vulnerable spot compared to that cable/actuator. The air locker is the best selectable locker in the world.

I dont think air locker air line issues are anywhere near the problem they're made out to be on forums.
HD line is worth the money and routing it appropriately. You only hear from the people that complain, not the ones that dont have a problem. It's also vitally important that the air locker seals are installed correctly.

Looking on their youtube channel, I found the hydro winch they do... Now I've been reading about the pluses and minuses of a hydro winch vs electrical, but perhaps some of you guys here could chip in your thoughts regarding the two?

The biggest plus I can see is speed and operating life. By life, I mean how long you can winch for at a time. It negates the need to install large battery banks and risk discharging them too much with a long day of winching.

What are some of the biggest pros and cons in a suzuki sized application?

Biiig minus- no winching with the engine off, so, for instance, you can’t winch back onto your wheels if you’re rolled. Adds lots of heat to the power steering system. Steering while winching kills winch speed. Need a large reservoir and cooling to avoid cooking the pump. The trial the video showed was pretty lame- that was lifting what, 600kg, tops?
