Hey guys

Pretty new to the 4wd seen but i know what i want out of my zook,
"Tuff truck" If yous know what i mean,

I was on snake racing and eyeing off the CALMINI 5" lift kit, just want to know if any one has used this kit before and what will the overall hight be on the zook

ill be getting fatter wheels for it so should be ok the 5" i think lol

Oh by the way, is my zook a narrow track or wide ?? its a 1995 softop

I think you should hold off for a bit. It looks like you have a pretty clean rig there, fairly stock with a set of decent tyres. You will be very suprised where just that setup can get you.

My advice is to wheel it like it is for now. If you have some money burning a hole in your pocket, then a set of gears and a locker will get you much, much further than a $2k suspension kit.

i run a calmini kit but i didn't fit the shackle reversal bit. dont listen to the haters as these springs and other components work well and have a great ride.
on my LWB i threw away the OME springs and fitted the calmini and got a significantly
better riding car.
just be aware that the springs do take a bit of running in but just load it up and go for a drive on a corrugated road.

if ya can just buy individual components get the springs and front spring plate/shock mount
things, plus run the calmini rear shocks with relocated top mount and use VS wagon shocks. on a SWB also use there rear shackles on the front or on a LWB use a set of fatzooks shackles.
you ger the same lift as a spoa but without the steering and axle wrap issues that come with a spoa lift. oopps also get two tailshaft spacers.

Normal lift doesn't relocate your front shackles.

5" is a real lot, and they like to fall over when up high...

Shackle reversal puts the shackle at the rear of the spring.

I ran this kit on my old zook and loved it but with 2 grand ya would be better off spending it on lockers and gears

drive the car like it is until you cant get to the places you want to go, then start to modify. You don't need massive flex in a sierra if you have lockers and gears.

But i have some spare cash to burn on it and was wanting to lift it, maybe for now i can get a body lift and airlockers for front and back, how much will i be looking at for airlockers fitted ??

Has anyone got ARB air lockers and are they any good ??

oh and how can you tell wide track to narrow ??

I have an airlocker, it's awesome.

If you have spare coin, get some 6.5 crawler gears, a rear air locker and a mighty kong Tcase bucket.

If you don't need to lift it, then don't bother. A body lift will only be raising your centre of gravity for no benefit. It's usually only done to clear bigger tyres. ARB lockers will be approx $2500, you're best to call ARB and check.

Anything from approx 88 is WT. The most obvious sign is the metal (sometimes plastic) flares that were body coloured. Earlier models only had small plastic flares which were black.
