go find a pitch black location and open the bonnet and watch it idle, see if you get a glow off your plug leads
have a real good look around the leads for little black marks that are signs of them arcing

G'day
Check the plugs.
If the car was idling the fuel should only drip in thats normal.
If plugs doesnt work id be looking at the carby, check fuel filter and if you have a compressor blow both return and intake fuel lines.
cheers

it was while sitting i'd not switched on. i'd push the accelarator and it just dribbles i would've thought it would put out a healthy stream, thats what the book i've got says. plugs are new and so is the fuel filter.

G'day
For a while there every time i turned me vit off about 5 mins later fuel kept pooring into carby. This resulted in the car flooding and not starting. The problem: there is an electric solenoid on the carby and if that gets too wet can fuck up. I cut the wires and disconnected mine and havent had a prob since. I also undid the screws and oulled it off and spraying inside with wd 40.
cheers
Danny

yer check that solenoid bud. on the right hand side front of the carby there is a little solenoid undo the 3 screws and just have it disconnected for a bit then see if the same prob happens. If there is a big vaccum leak on that solenoid it can cause the car to loose power when reving.

i'd say the problem is fixed. the four carby bolts were lose and one was a good two turns lose.
so it was most likely sucking air in when it'd go over bumps
Cheers and thanks for the help

na hasn't been rebuilt.
and she blows a bit of smoke when it starts and wont idle for a couple of seconds then the smoke disappears and it idles fine. does the smoke mean there is something not quite right?
