what sort of engine do u recomened??????


jimny,vitara, reco sierra, 4k, 4age, 5k?????

any others ?

what bolts straight up and goes hard

jimny and sierra are the only ones that will bolt up.

do you need extra power? how much more? the 1.6 EFI would probably be plenty. the other three are toyota engines.

my 1.6EFI is awesome... infact just today i had a drag race against shandy92 in his vitara with 1.6 carby... by 80km/hr i was around 100m infront of him!

the driveability is just awesome too - soooo much torque compared to the 1.3!

I vote for 1.6EFI aswell.

1.6 carby (use 1.6 bottom end and 1.3 head and manifolds) is easiest and cheapest solution for some more power. Need adapter plate, and to modify oil pick up and 1.3 head gasket and few odds and ends ($250 plus engine). But can bolt up in a day.

1.3 gti is next easiest with highest power from suzuki engines. Although not really suited to offroad. Need to sort out efi, extractors and dizzy

1.6efi from vit is next, more time but easier than the rest. but more power than 1.6 carby. needs adapter plate, modify oil pick up, extractors and efi sorted.

1.6 baleno mpfi or 1.6 spfi is next (adapter plate, extractor, efi sorted, thermo stat outlet, modify oil pick up. Dizzy type needs angled dizzy drive, coil pack needs sump pan cut and shut.

5k needs custom mounts, yota gearbox, modified trans tunnel, modified gearbox - transfer shaft, extractors, sump mods

Probably similar levels of work for the other two yota motors.


1.6 carby if lazy, and 1.6 efi if keen.

Don't underestimate the time taken so sort the efi crap, angled dizzies, and cooling water outlets (on the baleno/swift).

There is no comparison between the two. If the vit was efi it would have been a different outcome.

3rz would be nice... big job thou... but for a bolt up job = cant go past the g16b (1.6 efi)

the 4age is a great motor, but alot of work to get it in. you will need engine mounts, gear box mount and new transfer mounts. the sump of the 4age is also reversed compared to a sierra, so you will have clearance problems with the diff unless you flip it or push your diff way forward.

Iused my diff to make room, just jumped bejubes out of it & Bang, clearance!! very bent sump tho

Normally just buy an engine and harness.

g16b conversions range from $0-$3000. If your doing all the work.

Some people buy wrecked cars, and sell the rest to get their money back.

Buy a half cut import g16b , You usually get a low km motor with all the bits you need ,even a gearbox and transfer case, which you can sell or keep for when you want to do a Joeblow dual transfer set up.
Mine was about $2500. but that was a few years ago, so they should be a bit cheaper now..

Thats steep!!!

3 years ago I was getting them for $1400 for a front cut.

Now they are over $1800 and heaps harder to find. supplied must be drying up over in japland.
