so just while i was mucking around with my bumper and laying around under the front of my vit noticed that both my cv boots were ripped

just wondering how hard to replace gona go down to repco tommorrow and see what they got.

Very greasy messy job.
I just did one.
Once I had removed the axle, I found it easier to remove the cup end, as it is clipped in with a ring around the lip, and the inner cv comes off with a circlip.
Couldn't work out how to get cv end off
If doing this way, do both inner and outer boots.
I used cable ties round boot,
to replace the original bits that were damaged.
One boot came off on last trip, so look for a a better solution, or better quality cable tie.
reco complete axles may be worth looking at, too.

i've never had a boot fail on me but i'm interested in the price of boots from REPCO etc.... they'd want to be really cheap considering you can get a complete CV off ebay for $140, no messy grease to deal with + the old one can be kept as a spare.

if you do replace the boots, stay away from the split ones that stick together. they lasted about a week on my liberty when i did them...

Are they all the same across Vitara range.
ie it says Suzuki Vitara H20A, J20A. CV Joint Drive Shaft.
All I know is there is 22? and 26 for diff splines.
Once I have done my axle conversion, will put new ones in.
Maybe from states if dollars stays good

the J20a & H20a are slightly longer due to the extra wheel track of the SV420 & SV620 wide track Vitara's & are 26spline on the RHS... I'm running one of the ebay specials in the LHS & it seems to be holding up fine.

I just realised, splines won't matter, with 2 left hand axles ..
but length is important, so I need earlier models, for a 93 lwb
