If the locating pin has to be ground off does a new hole need to be drilled or anything welded?

I run VL mounts on the My Gti conversion .
Stock mounts lasted the length of the driveway.

I left the locating pins in place and cut/filed small slots into the engine mounting brackets to suit.

Not sure why so many people destroy stock mounts. My are stock sierra and still holding strong

Probably because they are 3/4 fucked before they do an engine swap?

yep same, 1.6 baleno conversion put in new repco replacement mounts, still going good. I bought vl mounts a while ago, filed the pin of and threw em in the back of the zook thinking id need to replece the stock ones soon and 1 year later still good. i have bust a g/box mount though

finally gettin back to this post :oops:

the mounts will be for the 1.3 in my truggy build so vibrations of bush type ones wont stress me but if i can just slap some vls in and be reliable im happy enough to go that way too???all comes down to whats gonna cop some abuse and work well

i have had a broken mount in my black zuk with the 1.6 for too long now and am too lazy to fix it. but it wasnt the best looking mount when i done the conversion.Have a replacement here and all just cant be bothered :oops:

well vl all the way then. Even think they are cheaper then 1.3 ones

Yeah....thats what i thought too

Someone in the earlier posts mentioned just to grind the locating pin and it would be ok....while someone else mentioned to leave the locating pin and file away the engine mounting bracket.....

And right at the start of the thread someone pointed out it was the R30 NOT R31

R31 has the RB30 engine in it.

I dont know if they are the same mount though.

Grind the pin off. Im not sure why you would do it any other way.

The way I read both those listings is the first one is for an R31 engine mount, and the second one is for an R31 gearbox mount.

Nissan Skyline R31 / 3.0 VL Commodore (RB30 Engine) is the mount.

the stock engine mounts have a locator pin.
It's there as it's a safety feature, to stop the mount rotating and potienionally allowing the engine to fall out if the mount fails.

the way to tell you have the right one is compare it to a stock one . the bolts are in the same positions

hmmm my bro and his mates are renting this massive shed with two pits on large acerage.
anyways there are 3 r31 wrecks out there (soon to become one of awsome drift car), pluss multiple wrecks being contributed to the adjoining bush land/ quarries! ( we did not put the wrecks in the bush) daily. its just a matter of getting to them b4 kids decide to burn them!

but from what uve said i guess the r31 skylines engine mount for the rb30 is no good!

Apparently there is a difference between the manual and automatic g/box mounts according to Repco....can anyone confirm or put the part number up?!

the gear box mounts are different but the engine mounts are the same between the auto and manual cars.
