Hi guys, I am new to this forum as I am to Suzuki,s so be kind.
Just bought a jimny and it tends to crunch when down shifting 2nd to first no matter how slowly car is moving, must be at complete stop to select first smoothly, clutch feels dodgy would this be the culprit?

meh mine does the same.
synchro is buggered
double clutch it...
might work or just dont shift to first while on the move.

if it's pissing me off while 4wding i use low range.
never have to use 1st then

monkey's shifts nicely because his car is brand new
or at-least was until he touch it

Don't change the box yet, change the oil first. Use a good quality oil in it and run it for a while. I'd say the synchro is just a bit glazed up, although most gearboxes don't like 1st being slammed too hard

Ok sounds easier than changing the box! Was thinking about putting up with it till got some coin together and then put new clutch, 1.8litre engine and do the box as well.....wish I could fit a 6litre in it! Oh well!

Also has anyone had experience dealing with Jimnybits in uk? Good or bad? Shipping cost reasonable? Shipping time? Hot my eye on a 3" lift kit with all the fruit and some other goodies.

wow really?
lots of $$$$
mine isn't too bad. unless your really trying to slam in there (why it pisses me off 4wding) you just double clutch it and it's fine.

and when driving on-road I never have to go to first unless i come to or near a stop anyway.

haha you would really have gearbox troubles with a 6 litre in there...

I think it would be never ending trouble with a 6 liter but would be fun for the 12 seconds that it was goin!
As for the money side.... Honestly I think they are so cheap it's a joke! I have dabbled in drag racing v8,s, rotaries, raced speedway, currently race karts with my 15 yr old son and I guess most would shit 2 bricks at the thought of what it costs for 1 season of racing...... Jimnies and whatever mods you can think of are redivulously cheap! .......hope the wife don't read this!

i rev match my downchanges whenever possible... in low range changing down from 2nd to 1st can be an almightly crunch if i dont.

My current g-box is from a 04model jimny, so it's not brand new. I have also driven a 98 model jimny with the original g-box and it shifted fine. Must be something wrong with your jimny
