i want to set up something so that i can adjust/hold revs without having to keep my foot on the accelerator for winching etc.
i have seen pushbike hand brake levers used as hand throttles but i'm looking for something that will "lock" the throttle at what ever revs i set it too similar to a manual choke.
has anyone done this or does anyone one have any ideas how i can do this?

i remember seeing a throttle lock on a f350 that worked similar to cruise control but with revs rather than speed did any other cars come out with something similar to this?

Landcruisers. 75, 78 & 79 up to the 1HD-FT motor. The new V8's just have an idle up button

They just wind. You can get ones that pull out and twist too, like the old Mini chokes

sierras like mine with carbies made in the 70s don't fancy things like idle up solenoids
i'd like to be able to set the throttle at what ever i want but the main reason would be for charging the battery while winching

The carby also?


Another option would be something like off an MQ Patrol. They have a hand throttle knob on the dash, but the cable runs to a bracket off the top of the throttle pedal arm instead of going to the carby.

yep, thats all I use, a pull and twist choke cable. I have it mounted under the dash and it just connects to the accellerator cable/pedal.

I use it to lock the revs at about 2grand while using the endless air. It is also very handy for if you stall on a hill, you can keep your foot firmly on the brakes, have the accellerator locked on slightly and turn the key. always starts easier with a bit of go pedal and this makes it safe and easy.
