Hey guys,

I have an interesting little query/question that i would like to ask. I currently have a Jimny running a TD80mm lift kit due to my standard suspension dying/sagging insanely haha

Now, I want to change my suspension setup around and was wondering if i could go back to standard spring (no lift) and use the 80mm lifted shocks?

Im not sure wether this would work, obviously not great, but just until i make some dollars to get some new shocks.

So would this work? or is it a stupid idea?

I think we worked out that the TD shocks for the 80mm lift wer too long to work without bumpstop spacing.

So if I am understanding correctly they are usable as long as I work out the bumpstip spacing?

Correct. Otherwise you'll destroy the shocks from bottoming out.

You might even find the 80mm shocks will run out of compression on the road as the shock will shorten itself by 4inches. A loud thump will be noticed first. Ignoring it will lead to broken shock mounts.

And as the shocks work to keep the coils in place during articulation, without relocating cones on the springs mounts (or Landrover-style limiting straps), your springs could fall out with the longer shocks allowing more droop.
