Ok well the bloody 20v 4age intake plenum is a massive thing designed to get even volume of air to all 4 individual throttle bodies.

I've dumped the body back on my zook and what I suspected has eventuated. The air intake plenum hits the master cylinder brake line outlet.

Not good.

This shows the bottom half of the plenum with one of the intake trumpets in place to show the clearance.


The obvious way to go is to get a custom intake plenum fabbed up which is no real problem but I am hoping to keep it as stock as possible as toyota obviously designed the intake in that fashion for certain reasons. Mucking around with the length of the trumpets starts causing differences in the torque curve of the motor. As far as my research goes the shorter the trumpet the higher the torque curve peaks towards higher rpm, losing any low end torque that the engine may have...which is not much at all in the first place.


My question is, does anyone know of a master cylinder that will bolt up that has the line inputs on the drivers side, top or bottom? this will give me room to run the standard intake.

I have heard forester? not sure on outputs though...

the one in you're pic could be used if the reservoir is ok where it is. the one in kenns from memory is from an earlier type, the square model also sold as barina.

The remote reservoir one would be ideal as I think I will require a little more room looking at it last night.

thats about all i have. kenn may have something better. if you plane on 4 wheel discs that booster should be fine depending on calipers used. if you want a better stop and lighter pedal feel use the booster from an h20 or j20.

GTI booster and master cyl works well too. Very small compared to sierra one. Works very well with the GZE conv.

sorry for the hijack, but i am looking for a booster to power my hilux axles/brakes, what out there bolts on and would be considered an upgrade rather than space saving

When I had a 4age spook my booster went in the bin, worst thing i did to that
car. the trumpets can be turned upside down miss Jane & put socks on em. thay WILL rub on the bonnet
As for bottom end torque, the 20v`s don`t come into power till 4 1/2 thou so your not going to lose much even if you remove them.
joeblow is on the money with swift, i ran 1 un boosted.

Yeah maybe in brisbane socks would be ok on flipped standard trumpets...but far out this is Victoria....we have mud....sometimes....There is absolutely no way I would run an open intake. Your are just asking to murder the motor down here.

I'm am going to hunt down a swift/barine remote reservoir one. plannign on using vitara lwb front rotors and calipers and sierra front rotors and calipers in rear with a trail tough caliper kit I got off Bad_zook.

Gotta get the thing running first......

Another option, although it ios more work, would be to move the motor across.....

Its been done before with no ill effect.
