G'day all, I recently picked up a 1996 Vitara and now need to buy a cheap obd2 tool off eBay to diagnose a check light error. Can anyone point me in the right direction on which one to grab, a link would be great.
And first post fella's expect plenty of more questions to come....
Cheapest way is to bridge a couple of the pins in the diagnostic plug, then when you turn the car on the CEL will flash a sequence at you. Count the flashes and that'll tell you what the error is.
A 96 Vitara will not be OBD2 compliant, you're limited to the jumper method mentioned above, the dealer OBD tools, or an interface & software from Rhinopower.
