Evening all...

Just needed to confirm something... Did non VVT Jimnys (98-05) run 3.909:1 diff ratio?

I know VVT Jimny run 4.300:1 manual and 4.090:1 auto ;-)

No, pre VVT are all 4.09 AFAIK.

Coil sierra is 3.9, but the front diff gears are different.

Sure about that one Steve?

I know of one coily that 'accidentally' had Jimny front gears fitted in it.

It drove quite a few k's with different ratios front to back. Luckily the track was very greasy and didn't explode the transfer, but it jittered around everywhere and took some effort to get it out of 4wd at the end of the day.

ive just pulled the rear diff in my 98 jimny to fit a spartan autolocker and found:

pinion 11 tooth, crown 45 tooth
that is, 4.09 ratio.

ive only just bought this car, so i dont know if its all original, but maybe it helps someone.
