lol steve is gonna tell you the same thing.
you planly dont know anything about boosting a car and its alot more complicated than strapping a turbo on the side.

Sorry Cayden, atari is mostly on the money.
I'll reiterate this in the event that your searching doesn't find one of my posts about it from the past.
I think there's two types of people who look into boosting a motor for a 4WD application - those who are really keen to stat a long, complex and very expensive process for shits and giggles, and those who want a car that makes full hektik noises.
Firstly, you might want to get your project running with the atmo G16B in it and see how it drives. Most people think that a light car like a SWB sierra or LJ goes quite well with just a G16B in it. My sierra is pretty heavy, runs an auto, and 35's and I still think it drives quite well with a nothing-special atmo G16B.
For you to want to roughly double the output of a G16B, you'd need a truckload of traction to make it do anything except light the tyres up and generally be dangerous to drive.... and if you have that much traction, you're likely to discover that none of the suzuki driveline is strong enough.
I'll reiterate - you can only use as much power as you have traction.
Turboing a G16B is going to cost around $6K. At the end of that process, you're going to have around 150 KW and 250Nm of torque, but you're going to have achieved it the most expensive possible way, and with the most fragile possible outcome. Everything is going to be custom. You can get those numbers really easily out of a number of factory turbo 1.8-2.0 litre motors, and they'll last forever. Turbo G16B's don't tend to last all that well at all.
In any case - say you do drop the coin and get it all sorted - what was the point? to say you have done it, or to add capability - because all that horsepower is only going to add capability for a tiny fraction of the time you're driving the car, the rest of the time, all that complexity and all those aftermarket parts are just a liability.
Have I turboed a G16B? No. I don't need to learn from my own mistakes in this case - I can learn from others. I love funny spooly noises and wastegate choof as much as the next man. I've owned a number of factory boosted cars, but funny noises aren't enough to justify the cost or drama.
Steve.

Well put Steve, and I mean that very nicely cayden a turbo 1.6 is nuts still cool, but to do it properly is going to cost big $$$ There is more then just bolting a turbo on u need to completely rebuild the engine not reco, but upgrade parts and Ur compression ratio needs to be correct. Also the Geer box may need upgrading I'm not sure.
I also want as much power as Ican get but there has to be a limit and a balance . Performance to reliability

and then there is the cost of getting it tuned properly. i'll buy keensy a carton of beer if the OP ends up with a reliable turbo G16b in less than 12 months time.

I drove a g16b vit today and the power difference to my sierra is pretty impressive! No wonder its such anpopar conversion. I would love to have that motor in my sierra!

my g16b is running a s15 ball bearing t28 turbo on a custom fabricated steam pipe manifold. costs alot of money to turbo charge one succesfully. i run around 14 psi, threw a built motor and it has made over 200rwhp on a few occasions. the setup has done almost bang on 10,000ks without any real problems
if i went back in time i wouldnt bother doing it again, i would build a tough na setup.

i brought a banged up comp car, with 15k worth of reciepts for the engine locally. then had the engine freshened up, and put it into a fresh gun metal vit soft top. just finished it really, had the steel diff put in it with some sort of locker. new cvs, avm hubs etc, pretty much a new car these days. goes great, going to run it down the quater mile shortly.
it will pull a mid 13 id say, raced a fg xr6t ute today and beat him lol

Not to mention putting a gearbox that will cope with the power in an LJ requires ALOT of chopping.
Even fitting a 1.3l Sierra gearbox requires getting all choppy choppy.

A g16b isn't really an appropriate motor to turbo, many have tried before

Idiots, G16bs have cast manifolds... No welds to blow! Better reinforce the floors though, they'l fall out.*
itallicsequalssarcasmfont.
I'd actually bet there's more LJs on here that have floors with very little structural integrity than ones with floors actually still attached/present as Suzuki intended.

People were saying that the Gti motor was no good to turbo back n the day. Now there are heaps of them.

Teamswift/redline gti have plenty to read on turbo conversions http://www.teamswift.net/viewtopic.php?t=12325 These guys are a bit more crazy and run much higher boost levels. The bottom end was the first bit to fail but could also be due to poor tuning/detonation. I'm happy to be wrong but to turbo a g16b is expensive to do properly. No doubt it can be made reliable with moderate boost and money spent on the right areas. It's not just the engine though this is for an LJ so it's a whole other level of making a gearbox fit/driveline mods.
