go and drive a stock sierra, see how gutless they are than go for a run in your jim.... still no power house but you realise for a 1.3 ltr its not that bad. gearing in sierra and pre vvt jimny's are the same in the 5speed. jimny is a shit load smoother than and there are less engine vibs at 6000rpm don't be scared to rev it

Yeh i have driven a stock sierra gutless, but don't like to rev to 6000rpm as my jimny sounds like a rice burner at 4000rpm.

A lot of effort for me to put a sierra t-case in so this is the better option.
Will e-mail them and get a price.

I know but there should be someone in this forum keen to help for a few cases of beer
the good thing bout the sierra swap is that you can get your Hi back to standar and Low waaaay lower than standar..... rather than with the trialjimny hi and low just bcak to standar........ I think
woop!

When I first bought my Jimny I always worried about power. It used to frustrate me how gutless they are - and then I just accepted it for what it's designed for - OFF ROADING.
Mine is setup as a tourer as best as I can - fully loaded (inc rood basket) I was still able to do 110kp/h coming back from Busselton on the w/end.
If I want speed I have my gixxer. If you want to do long distance touring then perhaps buy something else.
I have looked at gearing, but it's not practical for me. Good 4x4 locations are not that close to me.
Later on I will be buying a new 76 series GXL as I really want to explore Australia more...I'll probably keep the Jimny for the toy that it is.
I love the 76 series
