im over it. carbies are shit!
front wheel drives are nothing but trouble...
i want to do a full conversion start to finish in 1 weekend...
i have the resources to do it. my uncle owns a mechanic shops. hoists etc..
i think i can get away with not using an adapter plate for the gearbox.. and just fab something up.
i need to know what to do to the engine mounts
is there anything i need to buy for the conversion?
i need a thread that i can just get all the info i need frmo instead of searching around for 3 hours. sorry if that sounds rude but i want to use as much time turning spanners as i can come the weekend i do this. i might get an electrician. anyone got some info ?

Buy a BenT kit, $200 delivered, sorts out g'box and mounts. Ask someone on here nicely to pull apart the harness for you. Will make life a whole lot easier

With the adapter kit you can have the old engine out and the new engine in in about 2 hours leaves alot of time to sort wiring

Is there a RWD gearbox that bolts straight up to a G16B without having to use an adapter plate?? My girlfriends sierra has a carbied G16B but doesnt appear to have an adapter plate between the block and gearbox??

Yep. Vitara. But its heaps wider than the sierra transmission tunnel, so you would need to do mods there. It also has a married transfer case, so there is more work to remove it, or retain it.

hmmmm Then there is something a miss, im new to zooks so im not familiar with the interchangability of parts but there is definitely no adapter plate?? And the transfer is a seperate unit mounted on all original mounting points. It has heaps of power in 2wd even with the 32's on it which made me think it might not be a sierra g/box. However off road anything other than 1st gear 4Low is useless as the ratios are all out.

I think i will need to take pics and start a new thread to find out what drivetrain and diffs this thing is running, also puzzled about what the carby is off of as its not your normal type of carby with a throat and butterflies in it, it appears to be a Constant velocity or CV type carby with a sliding thing down the guts of it??

definitely not mate, im a mechanic by trade and it definitely isnt running any type of centrepoint injection. No computer or loom or anything. I think it must be off an import zook or off a different type / size of motor?? This thing really is a "bitsa" so ill have to take some pics next time my girlfriend comes over and post them up. And just for reassurance it is definitely a g16b, its cast into block and has a 16v head etc.

Yer well ive tried searching the net for pics or info on any zooks running a similar carby and i haven't had much luck. I wish it was EFI, but bought it how it is with the conversion done with the carby so just need to find out what parts this thing is fitted with. That way when it comes time to fit lockers or get CV's or transfer gears, i get the right parts to suit the right drivetrain component models.

With minor modification a sierra box can be bolted to a 1600 without an adapter plate , in the car it is not obvious what has been done, I have seen suzuki owners who know a bit about suzuki's scratch their heads trying to work out what the story is.

I have heard of an import 16V with a CV style carb. Should go quite well still!

i went and saw full bore 4x4 in toowoomba and they said they can do the conversion without an adaptor kit. i didnt like the sound of that lol.
