Has anyone seen these before?
They are a rubber bump stop that goes on the shaft of your shock absorber - I was wondering if they would be any worse than regular bump stops.

major problem i see with those is you loose a fair bit of compression. so you will need shock towers and longer shock to get the same amount of travel.

Yes, they are much worse.

Shock mounts aren't designed for the force a bump stop is intended for. Additionally, bumpstops don't really want to be where the shocks are- there's different requirements of the geometry.

Not a new idea, But i haven't seen it on cars. I suppose if all your shock mounts are strong and the shock welds are good it should work. I think on a harsh bottom out you would snap mounts so easy though. Easy enough fix but little gain.

EDIT: I don't think you'd lose that much travel. You could just cut it to get it spot on so it absorbs before you bottom out. Exactly like a normal bumpstop. But yeh you would KILL your suspension.

I asked Steve from Rocky Road what's better in his opinion, bumpstops on shocks or one mounted on axle/ chasis. He said that the ones on shocks put a lot of strain on shock mounts, so I guess it depends on your shockmounts. That's why I made bumpstops (you've seen them) and didn't buy those Rocky Road offers as alternative.

this is the opposite of what i need. i need a smaller closed shock length so the shock doesnt close before the bumpstop hits and damage the shock mounting points top and bottom.
