Got the ute started today. Has a huge knock in the gearbox, which goes away when the clutch is pressed, and doesn't have any grindings when turning from the shaft end. It locks up when driving, so I assume the internals of the g/box are pretty sad. Does this seem logical? Luckily my starter from Zukimonsta came with a spare motor, gearbox and chassis, so I can easily change it. It seems fairly straight forward by the book, are there any tricks or problems I should be aware of?
BTW, the engine runs as sweet as.

Checked the oil level??

No, I haven't checked the oil - could low oil cause a knock? I thought it might have been a big end, I was relieved in a sense when I depresed the clutch and it went away. I jacked the rear up and ran on idle and the lock up was enough to stall it.

If there is wear & no oil yes, same goes for the lock up..

Dropped the oil. Nice metallic colour so I'll change boxes this weekend

So I pulled the old box out and man, no oil on earth could help that baby!!! Anyway, got the spare in today. What a beauty, even took it for a drive in the carpark until I was reminded the driver's guard wasn't bolted on I'm beginning to realise why you guys love these things so much. Anyway, back on to the bodywork.
