hey guys is it better to leave the diff complete when welding on the diff or should i strip it completely?

doing a 4 link so around the top of the pumpkin a bit and down the tube a little on the long side and then tabs iether end for links.
will small welds and letting it cool be alright?

I'd be inclined to strip & fit new seal's after the fab work's done..
You can get away with perch's if you watch the heat, but still better to strip em..

hmm, i would fit a blank center, to keep the housing braced as possible, then top up with liquid or just take your welding nice and slow...

take out the center and axles etc, put the whole thing in a jig with clamps and stitch weld the whole thing so you dont warp it =)

it'd only have to be a super basic one just to keep it straight - if you stitch weld it you're lessening that chance anyway... and dont forget to fish plate the whole thing as you go (mounts etc).
Oh - and another 2 tricks from my engineer - more than 50mm of weld per edge of a given mount (ie: if its a small tab, make it larger to get more weld), and try to keep thicknesses the same - dont weld 10mm plate to your 3mm chassis.
