HELP me guys i went to check my diff oil on my 1993 leafy and i couldnt loosen the plug?? is there a trick?? is it a reverse thread.... i have a multi sized sump plug remover but i cant get enough purchase on it and then it slips out as it is tapered on the only bit that fits???

what can i do??

should i use the vice grips?? drill it??? where can i get replacement plugs??

how do i get the little shit loose??

If its like the Vitaras mate the square drive from a 3/8" ratchet fits perfectly. Most of mine loosened off easily with my large breaker bar (and a 1/2" down to 3/8 adapter).

One was a royal prick though cause it was already slightly rounded out. Impact wrench with said 3/8 adapter made short work of that one though.

2 of mine were so rounded i just used easy outs takes about 5 min to get them out then XD

Vice grips should do it, if its already rooted.

Mine was rounded, tried everything. Vice grips worked a treat.

Just do it back up afterwards and dont worry about it until you change diff oil again.

Cheers for the ebay link fordem - Good to know you can get the proper tool for it. I'd looked around locally back when I needed it and everyone just wanted to sell me those useless multi fit tools.

the wizard - ez outs are a reverse threaded tapered screw. Do a google on em to see how they work. The force from you doing it up (in a counter clockwise motion) gets to the point where it undoes whatever it is you are drilling into instead.

Peps Auto should have em If not just go to a bolts supply place and get a similar beast. I got some allen head plugs for mine.

I ened up going to weld a bolt on to mine, but the heat from the welder freed it up, so you could try a little heat to loosen it?

Here's an example of someone's solution. I guess you could tighten and undo that with the jack crank handle?
