I managed to get water up to the fuel cap on the weekend. This wasn't the first time either. I've tried various fuel caps etc but none seem to seal properly - presumably to vent gases etc. In the interest of keeping water out of the tank, has anyone relocated the fuel filler to the inside of the car? I imagine this would be fairly easy to do by simply disconnecting the hose from the filler pipe, rotate it towards the inside of the car, and connecting it to a new filler pipe with cap (from wreckers). Thoughts?

If it doesn't seal properly and you put it inside the vehicle I can only guess you're gonna get fumes in there. That would suck. Don't light a ciggie.

I've got a fuel cap that I purchased from repco that seals extremely well. Had to almost force it on. Cept I don't think it vents the pressure.. at all.

i put a ryco marine fuel filter with water seperator and mounted where the carbon canister normally sits. I placed a heat sheild to protect it from the headers.
I bypassed the original fuel filter, and plumbed the marine filter before the fuel pump.

I also installed a motorbike filter between pump and carby, to reduce the chance of gunk coming from the pump.

If you can work out somewhere to fit this where it wont get damaged from rocks and stuff they seal extremely well and dont have a breather. Its a flush mount marine fuel filler, that they use for there onboard fuel tanks.

The sping loaded flap in the fuel filler prevents heaps of water pouring into your tank anyway.

Try filling up using a jerry can, and a short funnel which doesnt open this flap. See how long it takes.
