i cant seem to get my rear axels out to replace my bairings
ive tried every thing in this post,

im just destroying what ever i hit, which i dont really want
does any one else have any ideas

Have you tried a length of chain? Bolt it tight onto one of the axle studs and repeatedly 'whip' the chain. That should crack it loose!

havnt tried the chain idea, but i do have the hub bolted on backwards.
a sledge hammer didnt even do it, doubt a chain will, but i will try the chain idea.

btw diff isnt bolted to the car

chain didnt work, so thought i should give it a couple more hits with the hammer and it came out

now time to get the beairings off

they have to be cut off, AFAIK. thats how mine were done, and how my service manual tells me to get them off.

you can some times press them off, but its far easier to use a grinder and just grind through the retaining ring, then you can usually get the bearing off resonably easy

Chain work well if used with a length of pipe through it and a hand on the top and the bottom and use that to snap it back onto the chain as this acts like an slide hammer and will give it that impact affect.

I did try a solid steel bar with the chain wrapped around it, also a hammer
Didn't work so I gave up nd smacked it a bit more nd they came out

i was trying to get my axle out of the housing like that and i pulled it off of the car jacks


Now days i undo the four bolts, undo the brake line, pull it out and up, plug it (also using a pair of pliers with ziptie on the rubber brake line). Then because mine is a NT i don't have a hand brake to worry about, i just put on my spare rim and give it 2 solid hit's and it's out, no damage to anything and i just grind very very carefully to get the bearing off.....

Lucky I don't need these diff just yet, cos I've wrecked a few bits including the brake line
