hey guys I'm trying to decide if I should get 31's or use my dad's spare 33 bighorns, not sure what size, but they are fat bastards. Looking at a coily zook with 2' susp lift. I'd be putting a body lift in too and doing the tfer case. what is offset..? Is it a camber or spacers or anything along those lines? I'd also need wheels (king wheels?)

I'd go 31's. Either on a 15x8 rim with a -23 through to -28.
Or as some guys on here like a 15x7 rim on an equivalent offset.

Offset refers to the wheels, and how far from the centerline they are, big wide tyres need big offset generally.

What are your plans for the Tcase

I have 30's and they are illegal....I think technically a 29 is illegal I don't like your chances getting a coily front end holding up to 33's if you are going to wheel the shit out of it. The 1.3 might not be a big fan of pushing them around either

Stay with 31's. Going up to 33's with make the job eleventybillionX harder - Gearing, axle strength, clearance all get much harder to resolve. 31's are sweet on a coiler with a 2" BL and a gear drive transfer with 4:1 gears.

Oh ok, well i'm not planning on having it 'legal' because we're only allowed a diameter increase of 1.5cm before it becomes illegal. I'll get a rwc with stock tyres then mod it. I was told that 6.5:1 would be good for 33's, so 4:1 is good for 31's? should I get a body lift as well as a susp. lift if I'm using 31's?

Suspension lift isn't required to clear 31, a 2" BL will clear the tyres. 4:1 gearing will be fine.

Suspension is a minefield for coil sierras. The closer you leave the suspension to stock, the less problems you will have.

I doubt it...you would probably need suspension and body lift. Before you ask, look on eBay, the optima kits are great

That's a different problem.

The more flex you add, the more room your tyres need to move. Obviously, with just a BL, you'll only have stock flex. The thing is, aftermarket shocks and springs (on stock mounts) don't add much flex either, but they can improve ride. Improving ride is a different issue to adding flex or running a bigger tyre.

If you don't want to get into fabrication, a bolt on 2" suspension lift will improve ride (a bit) and add a bit of flex, but won't cause cause other problems.

Improving flex doesn't make a huge amount of difference to off road ability. A little bit, sure, but not much. A locker makes much more difference than flex. for me, improving flex is really about improving balance so the car feels more predictable when it's picking up wheels, but the lockers are what's adding capability.

a guy in tassie had custom coils made with about 4 inchs of lift, and ran 33 inch thorn birds, seemed to go alright
