Hi all,

I have searched but to no avail.

Currently I am running a tired G16a in my Vitara and would like to go EFI. I have been checking out the Baleno 97 mdl G16B coil pack engine and also the g16B out of a Vitara.

Question is which engine is the easier fit? Is one better than the other? Any major differences eg. power?

OR, am I better off buying an injected 2dr Vitara and be done with it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am looking to purchase an engine asap and get straight into it.

IMO you should skip straight past the G16B to something more powerful. Nothing too crazy, but something that is worth all that effort.

Keep in mind I am not after huge increases in power, more so for the better fuel economy and reliability.

What do you suggest Fatzook?

Hasn't someone on here got 2.5l and I would think that would be good on the fuel because it wouldn't need to be working as hard but I could be wrong it's happened before

G16B outta a vitara will suit your needs then

according to my iFail app my J20a over the last 3+ months covering exactly 4693kms has averaged 13.2L/100km, best has been 11.2L/100km around town & the worst has been 18.7L/100 thrashing the hell out of it in the dunes loaded up with camping gear.

it's not exactly fuel efficient but it's not bad considering how far from standard it is.

i've seen a couple of 4AGE Conversions running around as of late... would they be more fuel efficient ( they would definitly be more powerful )... and of course worth your while...

Bigger engines can be economical, but it all comes down to how you drive it. I've got my father's 3.5L V6 Magna atm and it has a nice little trip computer which can show instant/average fuel economy (dunno how accurate). I drove to the Gold Coast from Toowoomba in it a few weeks ago and got 7.0L/100km on average over 350kms (90% highway driving). But around town it'll jump up to 17L/100km+. Scary lookin at the instant fuel economy when givin it the boot at low speeds and seein it get close to 100L/100km lol

pull all the stuff of your vitara you want to keep.. sell it, then buy an injected one and throw all the aftermarket parts on it. JMO but

i think i need to get my carbi tuned


i disagree with matty_wall, you know all the ins and out of the car you got now and you know exactly how its been looked after. buying another you risk getting a lemon.

and i'd assume the g16a to g16b vitara engine would be the easiest but havnt had any experience with it

I really don't want to change cars. I really want a replacement engine. Is it worth the hassle to install a g16B or should I just get reco G16A?

I have been looking for a reconditioned G16A and come across SuziFour : http://www.suzukiwreckers.com.au/page2.php

They are showing the engines for $850. This sounds resonable?

Does anyone have experience with these guys? I will have to have the engine freighted and don't want a DOA to deal with being so far away.

i'd be asking what "reconditioned" means to them. it doesnt look like a full rebuild.
