as above,i didnt install the motor and it has always run rich, changed all the basics but it is still the same,can someone give me advice

only notice it when taking off or at idle

plenty of black smoke

mechenic has looked at it cant find any problems ,he seems to think its a computer problem

Have you installed the VSS and O2 sensor?
I'm pretty sure that without these the ECU will run the engine in lean conditions in order to keep it running.

I thought black smoke was burning oil?

i had a vitara motor and it had a air flow meter which this motor hasnt got dont no about vss or 02 sensor where do they go

Not 100% on the baleno engine, but if it's like the vitara engine and came with one stock it should be on your exhaust manifold (if its OBDII there will be one on your cat converter as well).

The VSS is a vehicle speed sensor, which you should be able to read up on, I'm no expert, but from what I know it backs off the fuel when the engine isn't under load.

This makes the most sense to me, if it's blowing smoke when you're at idle, or after you've been at idle.

Hopefully someone else knows a bit more about this.

What is it using as the fuel return line? Been a few threads about conversions where people use the stock fuel return and its too small, especially with bigger external pumps so the fuel pressure ends up too high when not a lot of fuel is being used which will make it run rich.

Worth a look.
