will you get any benefit by removing the catalytic converter and replacing it with straight through pipe?

Yes i know it is illegal, just chasing helpful answers.

i've heard of ricers making up a de-cat pipe & that's just a piece of exhaust pipe the same diameter as the exhaust welded into the cat after punching the guts out of it so at least it looks like your running a cat if you ever get pulled up

Larger cats are cheap from the US. Lowrange offroad or US ebay

This would be what I would do, if I had to.

But replacing the cat would be the priority, once the reason for the cooked cat is fixed.
