I have my sierra fan. Now i forget which way to put it back on.
Does the air change direction if the fan is put on the wrong way?

yes. I'm not 100% sure only 90%, but I think it's supposed to draw air through your radiator towards your engine.

doesnt matter which way you put it on it will still pull air through, but you need the correct edge leading or it wont be as good

You will notice the fan blades have one straight edge and one curvy edge.
Put the straight edge to the front.

Ok. My fan has 1 straight edge, and one like a broken brittle plastic edge

It will only swap suck for blow if you start running your engine backwards.
I know you installed it, so there is a distinct possibility that you may have funked something up to that extent...

I call BS
YOU have it on the wrong way.
As you can see in the 1st pic. 4 Holes. With metal bushes. Look at the centre hole. It has a thin square plastic edging which supports the face of the alloy mounting block, then pokes through the hole. The other side does not!!

I did. Maybe you should look again.
All MY pics are from the back, the side that faces the engine. With the plastic support square, then alloy block, then bolts to the pulley.
Lip edge goes to radiator. Straight/internal gussets edge goes to engine.
Jas. Has Straight/internal gussets edge to radiator. Lip edge to engine.
I dont know how else to explain. every other way to explain it is confusing.
And im tired

Hi Bluesuzy, mate the side with the 12 little gussets faces the raditaor, I double checked with a lady at work who has a 1994 sierra, she has had it from new, 51000km, original water pump, fan has never been off the engine.

You can fit your fan whichever way you like.
I'll stand by the pics I posted.

Who cares?
If the spacer was supposed to go the raised square bit you mention, the raised part would extend to the bolt holes.
If you put the raised bit to the spacer and then tighten the bolts you will bend and possibly damage the fan.

For the big picture who here really thinks there would be a substantial change in airflow either way? Fix your shroud blue.
