Hiya all
I did search but found a lot of conflict so my question to you is my current stock ht tyres are 205/70/15,
Now if I go up to let's say a 215/70/15 would that alter my speedo or perhaps rub?
My jim is stock suspension wise and I would like to keep the profile the same just go a bit wider.

215/75/15 is the biggest size you should go without modifications. Your speedo will then be spot on. You should not have any rubbing although this is possible but only slight when suspension has bottomed out. Some report no rubbing at all. You will notice the change in diameter when going up hills and will need to change gear a little earlier. If there is a 215/70/15 available that would be even closer to the stock conditions.

Just put 215/75R15 M/T's on mine the other week, speedo is as mike said spot on 60 is now 60 on my gps and gauge!
Bit of rub reversing into car port at full lock I have noticed but due to the angle of the driveway as is hasn't happened on the flat.
Also when loaded with camping gear bit of a scrub on the right rear at 100 km/ph with country roads. so will lift and get front and rear bars one day in the near future

I've seen heaps of jimnys for sale recently with like 30" tyres (or bigger) which look like they haven't had the guard chop (as far as I could tell from pics at least) , is this because of the offset wheel they are running to get away with it ? also all the ones i see for sale with 30's and that haven't had any kind of gear reduction etc so they must be shit in low range?

They don't really scrub once you lift it and it's on level ground... it's as soon as you compress the springs that things get clunky.

My brother's scrubs from time to time at compression.

30s and no gears sucks on road and off unless you are driving bog holes. Fitted xfer out of an auto and it rocks.
